LET'S DO THE MATH

Did you like math in school? Our kids LOVE it! Our students learn math through the Montessori method. Though they might just look like beads, blocks, and boards to an outsider, these materials are carefully developed to engross our students' attention - some of them take days to complete, and stretch half way down the hall - and help them master math skills and concepts. This starts with our youngest friends: students who completed PreK at Libertas last year are performing 10 national percentiles about their peers on the winter NWEA MAP test. Our special education and economically disadvantaged students are performing in the top 15% of their peers statewide!

We won't give you a standardized test, but can you help us solve another kind of math problem?

QUESTION:

Libertas currently serves 600 students from 6 weeks old through 6th grade. 80+% of our students live in households considered low-income, and 20+% have special education needs. But we believe in giving the best for the smallest. So while we receive about $12,112 per student in public funds, we spend an average of $13,749 per student.

So, how much more do we spend per student at Libertas than we receive from the public?

ANSWER: Alot!

Check your math: $13,749 - $12,112 = $1,637

That's how much we raise every year *beyond public funds* to give our students a human-centered education.

HOW DO WE DO IT?

We do it together. To close the funding gap for students, we receive support from national partners (like this one, in case you missed it) as well as local supporters. Serving beyond the Montessori classroom, we provide our families with a full range of wraparound support to help them thrive - from our family engagement team and "attachment village" of relationship and behavior support specialists, to our renowned special education and intervention program.

Let's break it down further:

$1,636 divided by 180 days of school per students =

  • $9.09 per day
  • $45.47 per week
  • $163.70 per month
